A special meetup to tie up with the Big Data Week being held in London – http://bigdataweek.com/
Follows our usual format of debate, except the topic is pre-announced (we’ll announce the exact topic in a few days).
Both Labour and now the Coalition have talked about wanting full access to phone calls, skype calls and emails for all data and voice traffic in the UK.
What are the implications for this? Should the government be allowed to do this? Is it a step too far?
Companies are increasingly using Big Data to predict consumer behaviour, there is a case in the US, where Target (an American retailing company) informed a father that his daughter was pregnant using predictive buying patterns of her behaviour before she informed him.
Target have got to the point where they can predict with a 97% accuracy level whether someone is pregnant and predict their due date just on their buying patterns.
Date : Friday April 27th – 7.00 PM
