West Midlands Open Data Forum 2013
The BIP is pleased to announce that on the 25th April it will be hosting the West Midlands Open Data Forum 2013 at Birmingham City University @ Millennium Point, as part of Global Big Data Week.
This . . .exciting and pioneering Forum will be held once every 3 months to update the Birmingham business, developer and user group communities with progress of Birmingham’s very first Pilot Open Data Platform. The Birmingham Open Data Community (BODI) pilot project has full backing of the Birmingham City Council, Digital Birmingham, Birmingham City University, The BIP, SAP, Birmingham Science Park and other key stakeholders in the West Midlands.
This particular event will consist of talks on an introduction to Smarter Cities, a range of Big Data user case studies such as crime prevention, the public transport system and opportunities for SMEs both from a user/developer perspective. As well as capturing the requirements from all the stakeholders to develop a Open Data Platform/Portal and a physical incubator to support these activities, group and panel discussions will showcase lessons learnt from other cities who have embarked on a similar journey.
