What is it?

Big Data Week is a unique global platform of interconnected community events focusing on the social, political, and technological impacts of Data. It brings together a global community of data scientists, data technologists, data visualizers and data businesses spanning six major commercial, financial, social and technological sectors.

Locally, the festival is a partnership of Cook County Government and BLUE 1647. BLUE 1647 is an entrepreneurship and technology innovation center focused on education (through classes and workshops), workforce development (through apprentices and internships), and economic development in technology and 21st century skills.

Parking, Public Transportation, and Uber:

  • Parking: Guest can park in the lot across the street and slightly north of BLUE 1647.  Metered street parking is available for $2/hour.
  • Bus: From the north or south, take the 60 CTA Bus to Blue Island and 18th Street, then get off and continue north. BLUE 1647 is mid-block on Blue Island, across from McDonalds.
  • Train:  take the Pink Line to the 18th Street stop.  Walk 2.5 blocks east, and north at Blue Island Ave to arrive at BLUE 1647.  BLUE 1647 is mid-block on Blue Island, across from McDonalds.
  • Uber: BLUE 1647 is a $10 ride from the Loop.
