2014 event (Scitech – Big Data and Radio Astronomy in WA)

Learn all about Big Data and Radio Astronomy in Western Australia, including an opening address by Executive Producer + Co-Founder of Big Data Week, Andrew Gregson.

Steven Tingay will talk about the Murchison Widefield Array – Big Data Precursor to the Square Kilometre Array. Listen to the details of the Murchison Widefield Array, the first of the three operational SKA precursors and the precursor for the low frequency SKA – the largest piece of the SKA to be built in Western Australia.

Then Andreas Wicenec will speak about The SKA Data Challenge and the Australian side of the SKA1, outlining the data flow from the site to the scientists and future instruments like the MWA and ASKAP.
