Big Data: Everything you need to know to get started
The media is all over this Big Data thing. But what is it and how the hell do you get started with it? This event is Big Data 101. Four 30 minute talks designed to help you make a practical start to using data in your applications, business and career.
Bogdan Gabrys, Chair in Computational Intelligence at Bournemouth University will be sharing how to land the sexiest (and one of the most well paid) jobs of the 21st century; as a data scientist. Syd Lawrence from We Make Awesome Sh will be showcasing his experience of making stuff from data for some household names and Tom Quay, Founder/Director at Base (home of the largest Open Device Lab in the universe), will argue that it’s not the size of your data that counts, it’s all about what you do with it!
Bournemouth Council will also be launching their much anticipated data portal, and talking through it’s plans to support innovation with data.
There’ll be plenty of opportunity to ask questions during and after the event, so come prepared. Tickets are limited so book early to avoid disappointment.
