Inside Big Data Week Chicago 2014: Loyola University Wants to Help Businesses Understand How to Interpret their Data

The Center for Risk Management at Loyola Quinlan's School of Business is holding a half-day symposium titled “Translating Big Data into Business Decisions.” The goal of the event is to highlight how the value of Big Data is not derived solely from statistics, but from an established business process that requires sound managerial judgment to guide the analytics.

Co-founder of Big Data Week, Ande Gregson, will be one of the many competitors joining the annual gathering in Morocco in the Sahara desert for the Marathon des Sables in April 2014: a six-day, 250k self sufficient ultra marathon, which is the equivalent of six regular marathons, considered to be the toughest foot race on Earth.

For the third year, Visualizing is thrilled to again support Big Data Week. We want to highlight the awesome work created by the community and are calling for you to upload your data visualizations for our Big Data Week Gallery. Projects should be related to this year's festival themes of The Internet of Things, Smart Cities, and The Quantified Self or focus on The Connected Society. On May 5, we'll debut the gallery.
